Vigilant monitoring of cardiovascular health is a key use case for ASSIST technologies.  Two specific conditions where vigilant monitoring may provide new insights are Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) and Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). AFib affects 2.7 – 6.1 million people in the US. Symptoms may be intermittent, so detection requires continuous and accurate heartbeat interval timing. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) often leads to sudden cardiac death (SCD), the largest cause of natural death in the US.  Nearly 70% of incidents occur at home, and in half the cases, SCA occurs without any prior warning.
